Reactor ™ 40 Mechanical / Retrofit / Solenoid Corepack

Our most responsive autopilot system on the water

  • 9-axis solid state AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System)
  • Minimizes directional errors, course deviations, rudder movements and power consumption, while providing a comfortable ride
  • Minimal commissioning and calibration
  • Supports features for capturing courses, retaining wind direction, stepwise turns and turning / bombing

With a complete package designed for motorboats and sailboats, Garmin makes an advanced marine technology available for leisure sailors, previously available only to commercial boats. The Reactor 40 autopilot series is simply the most responsive autopilot system we have ever been able to offer.

Reactor 40 autopilots are very versatile. Features for motorboats and sailboats are available in all corepacks, including course retention, wind retention, turn / boom, stepwise turns and much more. Simply select the autopilot that is compatible with your existing management system. If you do not see a compatible Reactor 40, you will find that the Reactor 40 mechanical / retrofit / solenoid valve is compatible with a wide range of control systems, including hydraulic, cordless, mechanical and solenoid valves. Simply pair the GRF ™ 10 with the drive system already on board.

Reactor 40 mechanical / retrofit / solenoid valve autopilot corepack is perfect for sailboats and motorboats with direct or cable-activated control systems. This Reactor 40 cabin cabin autopilot system gives captains the "extra set of hands" that they need to safely fit sails, lines, games and radios without worrying. With its 9-axis solid state AHRS, the Reactor 40 can be mounted anywhere and in any direction, and requires minimal boot adjustment.

9-axis solid state AHRS

With the advanced 9-axis solid state AHRS, you can mount Reactor 40 virtually anywhere and in any direction. In addition, this new system significantly reduces directional errors, course deviations, rudder movement and power consumption, which provides a comfortable boat ride for all on board.

Responds to the sea conditions

This amazing autopilot actually responds to the sea conditions, so you keep the course. Even when the boat is tilting and rolling, you can trust that the Reactor 40 autopilot keeps you at the desired course.

Minimal start-up adjustment and calibration

All autopilots require startup adjustment and calibration - without exception. We know you just want to go out to the water so we made this process as quick and easy as possible. The Power of Simple.

Full integration with Garmin plotters

When combined with our compatible network plotter, you have full control of Reactor 40 from any location on the boat. In addition to keeping the course in virtually all weather and wind, the system can easily perform a number of preprogrammed trolling and search procedures. And with a compatible Garmin network plotter and BlueChart® g2 Vision® chart (sold separately), you'll get extra features like Auto Guidance 1 , which automatically controls GPS courses.

Keep control of Shadow Drive technology

For hydraulic installations, the Reactor 40 mechanical / retrofit / solenoid valve autopilot can provide optional patented Shadow Drive technology. You gain confidence in the knowledge that you always have control even when the autopilot is activated. The Shadow Drive system automatically deactivates the autopilot if the helm is rotated, so you have the freedom to maneuver the boat. The autopilot automatically reappears when you hold a fixed course.

Choose from 3-grade drives

Reactor 40 is available with 3 linear drives (sold separately) that can control many different control systems on most medium to large sailboats (depending on the specific installation). All Garmin linear drives have built-in detection of feedback from the helm.

  • Class A control unit - For displacement hook up to 28,500 lbs (13 tons)
  • Class B Compact Controller - For displacement hook up to 48,400 lbs (22 tons)
  • Class B control unit - For displacement hook up to 79,000 lbs (35.8 tons)

Connect to network devices

The Reactor 40 autopilot is operated using up to 3 GHC ™ controls. GHC communicates with the autopilot system via your NMEA 2000® network, so that course data from the autopilot can easily be shared with other devices. This allows for MARPA and card overlay when connected to a Garmin plotter. An optional handheld wireless remote control is also available, but you get the highest level of comfort by controlling GHC with a compatible quatix® or quatix 5 marine multisport smartwatch.

Get even more peace of mind

Add an optional GRF 10 Rearback feedback sensor to get even better performance from your Reactor 40 autopilot.
